  The clock is hardwired for a 24-hour display format. This stepper relay keeps track of the hour. It's a 4 pole, 24 throw. It's got two sets of moving contacts - the set not currently on the semicircle of fixed contacts is visible hanging out the side.  A top view of the hour relay, and some of the display lamp sockets.  Wiring to the hour relay   Running in the dark, light spills from the back of the displays.   The same thing, from the front...  ... and, at the backs of the displays themselves.  The lamp sockets, removable for replacement of bulbs
