The display is a projection type, as seen here. My camera doesn't do shots in the dark very well, but you can kinda see what the digits look like...

The label on the projection display. The lamps seem to be intentionally run at a low voltage to make them last longer. With up to 12 bulbs installed on each display digit, this is kinda important. I have yet to figure out what the other two do...

The clock is hardwired for a 24-hour display format. This stepper relay keeps track of the hour. It's a 4 pole, 24 throw. It's got two sets of moving contacts - the set not currently on the semicircle of fixed contacts is visible hanging out the side.
