(based on some vague ponderance I had while on the porcelain throne, and
some less coherent ponderance at almost 3 in the morning)

FnordTran's buses move by temporarily altering the value of pi. Since the
dimension we live in is dependent upon pi equalling 3.1415926whatever, the
alteration in pi's value causes an alternate dimension to be created,
through which the bus can move with none of those pesky things we have in
our universe, such as time. While in this alternate universe, everything
tends to look a little strange, as human perception is slightly warped. When
the value of pi equals what it does in our dimension, the bus reaches a
complete stop and appears at the corresponding point in our dimension at
which it stopped in the alternate dimension. 

Exactly how these shifts in the value of pi are accomplished is not clear.
Reports leaked long ago by the Illuminati have shown that a small device of
unkown composition, possibly the shape of (NOT AVAILABLE AT YOUR CLEARANCE),
may be responsible for allowing these shifts, as well as the otherwise 
inexplicable ability of FnordTran buses to seemingly generate their own small 
disc of firm, paved ground upon which to land on if a passenger for some 
reason requests that they stop, say, over the Mediterranian Sea.

According to some recently declassified documents, in early 2000, a visitor
to the Miami-Dade County Fair And Exposition reported seeing a FnordTran bus
arriving in the parking area. These documents seem to suggest that the bus
was a low-floor Gillig, with the mysterious ability to float exactly two
inches off the ground, and golden in color. Several persons stepped aboard
this mysterious bus and promptly disappeared, along with the bus itself. Few
other details are available in these documents, as it appears somebody
spilled oddly luminescent barbecue sauce all over them.

Amateur radio operators have usually reported detecting very odd signals at the
times of these buses' few known arrivals and departures. These signals,
usually heard in the upper section of the 70 centimeter band, sound much
like a high-pitched "moo", and are of very curious and wide spectral density. 

It is believed that the first electrostatic shoe freshener, now
mass-produced and marketed through Sharper Image stores, fell off the back
of a FnordTran bus. Its original purpose aboard is completely unknown.
